ADDICTION by Nasrudeen Olajire

Addiction
Piles of pills stored for peace
But yet you know it yields no bit,
You ride it down, down the vein
But yet you know it heals no pain,
Crack and pipe to calm your nerves
But yet you know it leaves you down,
For many years you took it hard
But yet you know it drives you mad.
Oh my friend answer this,
But yet I know you may read and hiss;
For how long will you live like this?
Piles of dishes left unwashed
A stench it is you wake to meet;
Heaps of laundry left undone,
Your life spelt out in twists and turns.
Oh you friend, save your soul
And say no to pills, pipes and cracks
For addiction is not a friend
It harms, kills and ruins your life
